Elam has made a lot of game-winning FGs in his career. However, there's no reason to believe that
no other NFL kickers would have been able to make the same kicks he made last year... with the possible exception of the Buffalo game in Week One. And most of them would have been able to kick off, too. The only way one can definitively say that without Elam, the Broncos would have been 4-12 is if one specifies that he wouldn't have been replaced... or can guarantee that his replacement would have missed every time. It's impossible to make that assertion, which leaves "speculation".
I wanted to keep Elam... but not at the pricetag he was demanding. Same with Walker.
