| | Impatiently, the Raider Nation waits for the Draft
The beer is on ice. The Raider fans are sharpening their spikes and getting the face paint ready. April’s answer to the Super Bowl is two days away. Now all the eyes are on the teams with the worst records from the past season. The passions are high in the Raider Nation as the fans are arguing. More... |

The draft, to me, is like playing PowerBall. the teams at the top get to pick their own numbers & the rest of the teams get the number the computor picked for them. Maybe your lucky numbers will come up & maybe some granny in Tick Bite NC (A real town BTW) becomes filthy rich on the ticket she picked up because she wanted to spend the whole $5 bill. One of the 4th roundser is going to end up in the hall of fame 3 or 4 first rounder picks will be out of the league in 2 years. I love the spectical & the discussion & the predictions as much as the next guy, but heres a research project for you; how many top 5 pick QBs have won a superbowl? Id love to see SOH in Silver & Black & I like to b/s over the ways it could happen, but whats to say if he is a Raider in September that he'll still be one by February? The only thing I can count as a sure thing is, again, Al Davis knows more about football than I ever will

The only top pick quarterbacks I can think of who won a SB off the top of my head are Troy Aikman who did it for the team that drafted him, and Jim Plunkett who was thought of as a bust until he came to the RAIDERRRSSSSS...
Oh yeah, and Elway...

League rules expressly forbade what he blatantly and overtly did. For the record, I also think Bowlen should have made sure of the league's rules on when and how Elway was to be paid. There shouldn't have even been any appearance of any stretching of the rules.

The league knows he broke the rules and has tried from Day one of the press coverage of the scandal to sweep it all under the rug because the Patriots are the NFL's (and sports media's) darlings.
The Broncos? When he realized he had a problem, Bowlen paid Elway and took his medicine (in the form of the loss of a 3rd down pick). If there was any whining or attempts at justification, I sure wasn't aware of them. From what I understood, it was just a mistake; one that was rectified in a timely manner.
