I expect the raiders to go with the 4-3 defense. We brought in Johnstone... We have Brayton and Burgess. In order to get the best talent on the field We will use a 4-3. The bigger question becomes the Linebackers. We will use a hybrid type of defense to appease Rob Ryan. We will have Bing or another big safety near the LOS. So it will look like we have 4 DL and 4 LB's, but one of the lb's will either drop into coverage or rush the passer.

Well Max, I'm going to make a prediction here. I predict that the Raiders draft Troy Smith from Ohio State with the first overall draft pick. That is, unless the Lions suck just as bad as the Raiders for the next three weeks. If Troy goes to Detroit, then the Raiders draft offensive help of some sort, hopefully a half back. Then aquire a REAL GOOD center through FA.

I hear a lot of people (including Mel Kiper) say that Troy Smith will be a late first round to early 2nd round pick. Brady Quinn seems to be everyones early favorite 1st overall pick this coming draft. I think we will go RB or WR in Rd 1.

My top picks not in any order
1-HB Adrian Peterson (if he comes out)
2-WR Calvin Johnson (Freak of nature)
3-WR Ted Ginn Jr. (Al likes Speed)

My perfect scenario... Raiders Select.....
1st rd pick- HB Adrian Peterson
2nd rd pick- QB Troy Smith slips to the early 2nd rd

Interesting.... At this moment I don't think we'll go in that direction. Let's take a look at what we have right now.

Wide Out

1. Randy Moss - Could be traded for a decent WR or he might stay with the promise of getting a better OC.

2. Jerry Porter - Definitely gone he's caught up in a log jam of decent recievers.

3. Ronald Curry - Handled himself very well against the Bengals 10 - 99 and 1 TD is not bad

4. Alvis Whitted - The return of James Jett with better hands but he still drops too many balls.

5. John Madsen - The kid needs more playing time, but he has skills

6. Johnny Morant - WTF happened to him?

All of these guys with the exception of Morant run better routes than Moss.

Running Back

Lamont Jordan - Liability in pass blocking situations doesn't hit the hole hard enough and has a knee injury

Justin Fargas - Tough runner but just too light in the ass to make a real difference.

Zack Crockett - Tough runner great blocker catches the ball well.

All the others suck!

Offensive line

Gawd where do we start! Gallery is made of glass, Mcquistan needs more work... Grove doesn't make good line calls... Walker is a slug who commits too many penalties

Quarterback

Aaron Brooks - Not going to cut it with Moss... he is correct to spread the ball around. Makes too many mistakes and is unsure of his position as a leader.

Andrew Walter - If the offense was taylored for him he could be great... to immobile to take 7 step drops.

Tui - Give him a chance some where else!

Defense... We need a dominant DT and DE.

With this being said... I think we go Running Back or Offensive line. WR would be a waste because of the turn around time QB... Let's face it Al will not draft a QB in the first round.

The Heisman vote totals were as follows:

QB Troy Smith 2540 - 6'1", 215 lbs. Not the size teams want today. Completions 199 Attempts 297 Completion rate 67 Total passing yards 2507 Touchdown passess 30 Interceptions 5. Ran for 233 yards. Not a huge total. BIG arm, and accurate. Not really a runner like Young, but more of a scrambler like McNair. OVERWHELMING winner by a landslide. The voters liked him for some reason. Played mostly shotgun, but so did Young. Who wouldn't want Smith now?

HB Darren McFadden 878 - Big guy at 6'2", 205 lbs. Decent runner, had 6 games of less than 100 yards rushing, and 4 with over 150 yards rushing. Only 1 over 200. Had 1558 total rushing yards this season. 14 touchdowns. But, he's only a sophmore.

QB Brady Quinn 782 - 6'4", 227 lbs. The size everyone wants. Completions 274 Attempts 432 Completion rate 63.4 Total passing yards 3278 Touchdown passess 35 Interceptions 5. Learned under a good system. Should be another Tom Brady. Only 65 yards rushing this season.

HB Steve Slaton 214 - Decent size at 5'10", 185 lbs. Good runner, only two games all season with the Mountaineers where he ran for less than 100 yards. Had 6 games where he ran for over 150. 2 games of more than 200. Had 1733 rushing yards total this season. 16 touchdowns. But, he too, is only a sophmore.

HB Mike Hart 210 - Decent size at 5'9", 196 lbs. Good runner, only three games with less than 100 yards, and that was barely (91, 95, 92), only 2 games with more than 150 yards, and none over 200 yards, for a total of 1515. Scored 14 touchdowns. He's a junior

Colt Brennan 202
Ray Rice 79
Ian Johnson 73
Dwayne Jarrett 47
Calvin Johnson 43

So, I think that our first draft pick in 2007 should be one of those top four. I think I may have talked myself into wanting Quinn more than Smith. I think I like Steve Slaton, but does a sophmore as good as he is go into the draft that early? Probably not.

Again... I'm going against the popular grain... Adrian Peterson will be selected by the Raiders with pick #1 no trading down... because cleveland will take Peterson. Russell and Quinn will take too long to develop so we will get our QB in the Second round... I think we will tinker with the Oline some more... If Newberry passes the physical grove moves to a guard spot... If Newberry does not pass Adam Treu takes Groves spot and grove moves to Guard.

You can hold me to the Adrian Peterson prediction!

I was wrong here!!!

Max.. I Hope Your Right! Cuz I Realy Hope That We dont Draft A Qb!!! I Wont Adrian!! He Will Bring A Whole Diferent Kind Of Game To The Team!!!

I Honestly Think That Were Gana Draft A Dumbass Qb!!! I Think Kiffen IS Gana Wana Develop Russell Or Quinn, But I Realy Wont Peterson On The Team!!

So Far Im Not Liking What The Raiders Are Doin In The Off Season, I Was Hopeing To Get Garcia Or Johnson as A Qb, But Most Of The Prospects Are Gone!!! But Who Knows...... Only Time Will Tell...
maybe Kiffen thinks that walters has what it takes to start next season..

Walter is a pure passer with NFL experience... I don't think Vets like Moss, Porter and others want to break in another QB... I think we will Get Tui under contract soon and stop some of the speculation!
