Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Lamar Odom scored 25 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to pace the Lakers to a 103-91 victory over the Detroit Pistons.
Kobe Bryant scored 11 of his 19 points in the final quarter for Los Angeles, which has won two in a row and five of seven. He was just 2-of-14 shooting through the first three quarters, but made all four of his field goal attempts in the fourth, a stanza in which the Lakers shot 16-of-21.
"Our bench was doing a great job, coming into the game and putting up points," Bryant said. "They were generating energy for us on the defensive end."
Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince each scored 16 for the Pistons, losers in two of their last three contests after starting the season 5-1. Prince also had nine rebounds, but the Pistons went 3-of-14 from three-point range and surrendered 41 points over the final 12 minutes.
Chauncey Billups (knee, hip) and Antonio McDyess (shoulder) sat out for Detroit.
"Turnovers lead to a lot of their fast-break opportunities," Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. "I think our guys, we ran out of gas, ran out of bodies and guys tried, but you would like to get a better whistle at times, especially in the fourth."
The Pistons were ahead 74-72 with 8:06 left following a jumper from Jarvis Hayes, but the Lakers came back with eight consecutive points. Included in the spurt were jams from Maurice Evans and Andrew Bynum. The second one came on an alley-oop as Evans fed Bynum for a 79-74 lead. Jordan Farmar's free throw capped the burst with 6:21 left.
A pair of foul shots from Prince had Detroit within 88-83 with 3:22 to go, but Vladimir Radmanovic responded with a jumper and Farmar's three from the right corner pushed the lead to 10, effectively capping the victory.
Bynum had 12 points and seven rebounds, while Radmanovic added 11.
Ronald Murray tallied 15 points, while Rasheed Wallace and Hayes each scored 13 for Detroit.
The Lakers led 29-20 after the opening quarter, but Detroit came back in the second, tying the game at 46 on a Hamilton jumper. Two free throws from Odom made it 48-46 at the half.
It was tight throughout the third, but the Pistons scored six in a row for a 66-60 advantage and led 68-62 going into the fourth. However, LA scored the first six points of the last quarter.
